Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the pandemic situation in Brisbane is serious and the Queensland Government has made a “wise decision” to lockdown for three days.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison and state leaders say Queensland has acted in all Australians’ interests by ordering a snap lockdown in greater Brisbane.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced a three-day lockdown in Greater Brisbane to spread of UK strain of COVID-19.
The COVID-19 lockdown applies to the council areas of Logan, Brisbane, Moreton, Redlands, and Ipswich, and goes to Friday from 6 pm to Monday at 6 pm.

Mr Morrison said, “It is moving so quickly far more quickly than last strains of the virus.”
“That means we have to give our contact tracers a head start to assure they can track down all of the contacts from this individual.”
Mr Morrison said, “We request to Australian in lockdown ruling areas stay where you are.”
He said, “Do not go home to another state, any other part of your state, or anywhere for the next few days, just stay where you are.”
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has praised Queensland’s proportionate acknowledgement for containing the variant that is 70% more infectious than last versions of the virus. This UK strain of the virus has pushed some UK hospitals to the highest capacity.
